Sri Neelakanteswara Swamy Rathostavam

Sri Neelakanteswara Swamy temple is located in Yemmiganur town which is about 70 KM from Kurnool. Chariot festival will be celebrated here in a grand way during December-January months on “Suddha Vidaya”. Devotees come from Maharastra, Karnataka and Telangana to visit chariot festival since 300 years. This chariot festival will be celebrated for one month in a grand manner and some lakhs of people visit this chariot festival and Jathara. Gaduga-Banda community people bring God & Goddess Siva Parvathi by decorating these deities from their homes and keep god Siva & goddess Parvathi in chariot for “Uregimpu” and perform “Kalyanam”. Devotees pull chariot with its chains. People believe that if they pull chariot easily without any difficulty, people live happily throughout the year. Otherwise they may face difficulties throughout the year. People felicitate women who comes for Jathara with turmeric, Kunkuma, saree and blouse. This jathara will be conducted for 30 days. Among these 30 days first 5 days are celebrated as “Brahmotsavam”. Every year this jatara will be celebrated in Pushya masam. Additional:- Yemmiganur is famous for handloom textiles and it is from about 24 KMs from famous Mantralayam Temple. Everyone must visit this temple.
