Chapchar Kut Festival

Chapchar Kut is estimated to have started in 1450–1700 A.D. in a village called Suaipui. The festival apparently originated when the hunters came back to the village empty handed, to make up for the disappointment, the Village chief proposed an imu feast with rice beer and meat. Activities

The entire area will be decorated during the festival by setting up of arches, gates, columns etc. good number of banners, flex and scroll will also be displayed in and around Jampui Hill area as well as in North Tripura and Agartala. Very recently Jampui Hill is identified as a Adventure Sports activities like Para-gliding, Trekking, Cycling, Zip-lining, Burma Bridge, Spider-net activities. This kind of Adventure & Spring festival will be boosting Tripura Tourism in a vast manner.The Main activities which are done during the Chapchar Kut are:1. Dance – Cheraw dance is the Main dance but other dances performed during the festival are Khuallam, Chheihlam, Chai and Sarlamkai2. Arts, craft and Photo Exhibition.3. Chapchar Kut run.4. Mizo Traditional Games and costume parade.5. Wearing of Traditional dress at work places.6. Stalls with Ethnic cuisine
